I saw this seed head while out walking in the middle of winter. I don’t know why some of these plants persist long after the end of autumn, when all others seem to have died away. The low-angled, cold winter sun highlighted the dry curls, and made this particular stalk stand out. Click on the picture to see this in my Etsy shop.
