Poppies

Friday, June 19th, 2009

I went out to photograph an amazing field of poppies that has sprung up near my house. The wind was blowing, so I was sure that all my photos would be blurry and useless. But in the end I loved this one, with the poppies blurred by a long exposure – it looks kind of impressionist to me.  This is a HDR photo (5 frames generated from a raw file, tonemapped using the Mantiuk algorithm)…. shh….. don’t tell anyone :-)

Sunset beach

Friday, June 12th, 2009

Taken near Arisaig on the West coast of Scotland. I’d never been on the west coast before, so of course I’d never seen the sun set over the ocean. Let’s just say I will definitely be back!

Seafront at night

Thursday, June 4th, 2009

Here’s one from a while ago.  Taken from the end of the pier at Broughty Ferry near Dundee on the East coast of Scotland. A beautifully still night – even though this was a long exposure, you can see how undisturbed the sea was. Click on the image to see this print in my Etsy shop.

Mallaig Harbour

The harbour at Mallaig on the West coast of Scotland. Fishing boats are anchored in the bay, and the town of Mallaig is in the background. Click on the image to see this print in my Etsy shop.
