Monday, August 17th, 2009A couple from the weekend
Monday, June 29th, 2009I don’t often do the Flower Macro Thing, but I wanted to play with some off-camera flash this weekend. This is one of the foxgloves that’s seemingly grown from the flagstones outside the back door, nuked with one strobe from above through a diy mini softbox. I quite like the abrupt flash falloff toward the bottom, even though I would normally try to avoid it.
And a fungal specimen from the garden..not sure if this is a sign of a healthy lawn or not. Setup as before, but lit from below to show the gills.
A couple from this weekend
Monday, June 22nd, 2009Both taken with the Tair-11 135mm f/2.8. 20 aperture blades leads to very pleasing bokeh.
The bees were going mad for the sage flowers, which just appeared this weekend. I always think of this poem when watching bees:
Next I’ll speak about the celestial gift of honey from the air.
Maecenas, give this section too your regard.
I’ll tell you in proper sequence about the greatest spectacle
of the slightest things, and of brave generals,
and a whole nation’s customs and efforts, tribes and battles.
However, Max was in a less industrious mood.
