Red Row Nature round up

Tuesday, June 16th, 2009

Just a couple of random observations from our daily strolls round the field… new pine cones forming:

new pine cones

.. and a mushroom the size of your head….

a mushroom the size of a man's head!

Both taken with the legendary Super Takumar 50mm f/1.4, about which I’ll have more to write soon.

Cat and can

Sunday, June 14th, 2009

My cat, Angie, investigates a bright green watering can while keeping one eye on me. I love the contrasting colours of the deep green watering can and the tabby cat. Taken with a Super Takumar 50mm 1.4 wide open.

Beach Bird

Monday, June 1st, 2009

Taken on Scotland’s West coast, my birding friend tells me that this is probably a pipit. He kept returning to this tuft of grass and looking out. I love the way that the sand, grass, sea and sky have made white, green, dark blue and light blue blurred horizontal bands in the background.  Click on the image to see this print in my Etsy shop.

Two seagulls

Monday, June 1st, 2009

Taken near Arisaig on the West coast of Scotland. These two guys sat on a rock about 100 feet offshore and watched us walk along the beach. Click on the print to see it in my Etsy shop.

Grey Heron

Thursday, May 28th, 2009

Taken on the island of Skye off the West coast of Scotland. This beautiful heron was fishing in a stream on a beach. He took off when I tried to get closer, but in the end I like the shot of him in flight the best. Click the image to see this item in my Etsy shop.
